TSNM suspected

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces suspect the Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat Mohammadi (TNSM), a hardline Islamic group close to the Taliban, could be behind the suicide attack on Wednesday that killed 42 soldiers at an army training centre. The attack occurred in Dargai town in the tribal district of Malakand, which is a traditional stronghold of the TNSM. “Malakand is a stronghold of TNSM and the attack appears to be the handiwork of the banned group,” a senior security official told AFP. The official, who requested anonymity, referred to recent statements by TNSM loyalists who threatened suicide bombings to avenge the raid on a Bajaur madrassa. afp
